Camping etc

29th October 2009:
Remaining camping space: Less than 250 people.

We have fairly level camping facilities in easy walking distance of the village centre, including space for a reasonable number of caravans and motorcaravans.

We have a couple of restrictions: (1) You can only camp if you have purchased a weekend ticket and (2) ALL under 18s must be accompanied by at least one adult, on whose ticket the camping has been paid. We are not able to accommodate groups of people under 18 unless they are with a responsible adult. Caravans and campers will be allowed, but numbers are limited and they must be booked in  advance.

Please note that for safety reasons car movements will not be allowed once you've set up camp, so if you want to go for a drive  you'll need to leave your car in the car park instead (£1 per day).

Camping is just £10 per person, half price for accompanied under 18s and free for under 12s. Camping is also half-price for stewards and booked dance teams (etc). This is for the whole weekend (up to 3 nights, depending how long you want to stay).

Please note that camping is charged for everyone over 11, including booked teams and stewards at reduced rate, as we have quite high costs for camping facilities and we want to keep ticket prices as low as possible.

The campsite opens at 2pm on Friday 4th (don't come earlier - there's absolutely nowhere to queue in the village) and closes at 11am on Monday 7th. We will not allow movements on or off site between 8.30am and 9.30am on the Monday as you would meet (and possibly be unable to pass) school transport vans and buses.

Ladies and gents basic toilets on the main site - bring your own if you can! Drinking water standpipe available. We will not be providing shower facilities for the weekend, so bring a bucket!

Now the "no" bits...

Sorry, no electric hookups, no chemical toilet emptying facilities and no lights at night (in fact there are no street lights anywhere in the village) so BRING A GOOD TORCH! No fires anyway on sites, on the common or in the village fields.

NO DOGS! In accordance with a locally imposed condition, dogs cannot be allowed on any part of the campsite or the event site. Please DO NOT BOOK for the weekend and/or for camping if you would need to bring a dog.

No late noise. We won't have a "noisy" area on the campsites as we don't want to annoy the neighbours, although there will be a late night song session till midnight (and a late night movie show too, with ancient black and white comedies and spine-tinglers) but after 11pm we ask everybody to be quiet on the campsite and in the village. Really.

Limited mobility

We have a limited number of sites nearer to the pub for people who have a problem with mobility, but you must book early and understand if we run out of these spaces.

What happens if the weather is wet? We go ahead, unless the campsite is unusable or unsafe. We'll have a couple of tractors on hand to tow you off, but there will be a small charge for this (£5 per vehicle) and it is entirely at your own risk. But it's going to be sunny.....!
