Moodle

What is Moodle? Essentially it a web based tool which supports and enhances learning by allowing teachers to manage courses, deliver materials to learners, assess learning and interact with learners. More importantly, it is a place where learners can interact with teachers, and with each other, since Moodle is founded on collaborative learning. Moodle's own thoughts on this can be found at http://docs.moodle.org/en/Philosophy.

Moodle is "open source" software. You can download it, put it on your server, and start to use it. What you contribute (in addition to any donation you decide to make) is your experience and your active participation in the Moodle community.

Until you are ready to run your own Moodle, we can help. Contact us to find out how easy it is to set up a course area on our hosting service. We charge a small amount for setting up and hosting courses (and we will encourage you to make a direct contribution to Moodle), and we can train you and your colleagues in using Moodle in efficient, low-pressure ways that really help your learners. We can also support you as you develop your courses. Visit out Moodle hosting site.

For larger organisations or those which wish to move forward to running their own Moodle and have more advanced user management needs, we'll suggest you work with our colleagues at VLE Middleware, based at Kidderminster College.
