LO Course Design is a course planning tool for teachers, lecturers and trainers. It integrates a number of course design functions and helps avoid duplication of work while simplifying the tasks involved. As well as speeding up course design, all major course data is held in one central source for ease of updating.

In addition to helping you plan the course - session by session or module by module - the system guides you towards the discovery and embedding of all course materials and both local and external online resources.

Essentially, you create a course outline based on start and end dates, or number of modules, and optionally the lesson pattern (days, times, locations). Summary details for each lesson can then be entered and amended at any time, and expanded into detailed lesson plans if you wish. At the start of a new year, you can apply a new timetable to an existing course.

A major advantage is the automatic creation of Schemes of Work, Lesson Plans, reading lists, student diaries and other documents for printing or editing.  LOCD will even create zipped content for quick and easy upload to an IMS compliant Virtual Learning Environment (such as Moodle), and enables direct linking to content repositories using National Learning Network and similar online learning materials.

Version 3 incorporates changes and enhancements requested by users. Data created in previous versions is fully compatible with LOCD3.
